The Word of God

Dear Weekly Readers!
God’s Peace!

The Bible! There never has been and never will be a more important book.  The Bible is so much more than a book; it is food for the soul!  Let us think about this for a few short moments today.
Below is a short article about the Bible by a Foreign Mission Board member Shane Juuti.

May God Bless your Week!  John R.

THERE ARE A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS that we, as Christians, need to answer for ourselves, and believe the answers so completely that we can live by them with confidence.

The first question we need to answer is this: Is the Word of God inerrant? Is the Word of God the only truth, with no errors?

If we do believe this to be true, let's ask ourselves this second question: Do we believe that the Word of God is sufficient for us? Is the Bible enough for us to live by, or do we need to add to it from man's understanding in order to deal with certain situations?

In John 14:26, we read, But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

How many of us trust these words, and live accordingly? Do we read the Bible believing that it is the truth of Christ, from God? Do we trust that the Holy Spirit can, and will, bring these truths to our minds when it is best and necessary for each of us? Can we trust that it is only the Holy Spirit that reveals and teaches the truths of Scripture, and that we can have more confidence in the Word than in any study Bible (that may be some man's idea of what a portion of Scripture means)?

If we are struggling with certain verses, let us look into other ones. Scripture can always be backed up with Scripture. If we have the Holy Spirit, we can trust that it will reveal what is meant by a portion of the Word when we need it. Do we need self-help books to aid us? Or is the best and only self-help book we really need the Holy Bible?

Is the Word of God really hard to understand, or is it too clear, and our flesh doesn't want to listen?

Let us pray that God will reveal how truly sufficient His Word is for all our needs. May He graciously give us faith to trust the guiding of His Spirit, through the Word, in all things. Our hearts will be filled with God's peace. ~
